![]() Despite this, there is still a way to use custom decks against AI opponents. Additional theme decks can be purchased in the app's in-game store. The computer-simulated matches only allow pre-made theme decks based on official sets such as May's Pokémon Astral Radiance TCG expansion. I'm not sure about Battle Reporter since I've never used it, but it might be a better option than Cheren or Tierno, at least if you replace 1-2 of those, and it's at least some kind of a suboptimal N substitute that helps catch up in hand advantage, particularly right after your opponent has taken prizes. While custom decks can quickly be used in online battles, TCG Online players can't actually use them in the Trainer Challenge AI mode. Espeon and Plasma Ball are used in pretty strong decks, Laser is the most broken card in the game and Cassius could find some uses eventually. Mime, Hypnotoxic Laser, Lapras and Flare Grunt can be big improvements to beginner level decks. I don't think there's any reason to think of having more cards as useless, and it's probable you overlooked some cards as 45 packs are practically guaranteed to give useful trainers to greatly improve the decks you can make from free cards only.Įven out of what you listed, the Mr. Sure, it could be made less tedious, but as long as you don't use the Blue deck which relies on Great Ball, Milotic and N to set up, it's pretty simple to get 4 stars against an opponent in 3-4 games each, which seems reasonable considering the rewards. I'm kinda feeling like I spent all this time in agony for nothing =/ Thanks for that, Nintendo. First and only EX for the set of packs, and even then I already own one lol. ![]() holo battle reporter in same pack lolĪnd in the last pack, a M-Heracross EX. _.)Ĭassius (first one it's interesting, how viable is it?) Team Plasma Badge (probably not very useful, but neat)Īnother hypnotoxic (I only had one before this. Mime (the one with Bench Barrier I didn't have any yet) As of writing this part of this post, I haven't opened them yet - I'm going to do so now and write the significant things I pull:Īnother Wartortle (needed this for my deck) While that is nice, note there is no "special reward" for 4-star completing all three leagues, just the same 3-extra-booster special for completing each individual league. After fully completing the City Championship, I got a grand total of 15 locked packs (1 Boundaries, 1 Treasures, 4 Freeze, 1 Storm, 3 XY, 4 FuF) plus another (Treasures) with the coins I also got from it. But for new players.there has to be a way to fix this to not just dole out rewards for no effort, but so that the effort that is required doesn't feel like working a friggin' chain gang in the middle of the desert.Īll this said, it does give you some nice-looking rewards. Not that it matters for me anymore, because I'm finally free, never having to touch that damn star tab again. There HAS to be a better way to go about this. Add to all of that the irritating, pointless, un-skippable cutscenes before each match, and the sheer number of trainers, stars, and matches you have to go through, and you have one very upset player. At least, that's my best guess, because whenever I get lucky and take out a trainer's only pokemon at the beginning of the match, I barely get any credit for the win. That's right, the points you get (that go towards the stars) depend on how many prizes were taken total, even if the game isn't won by a player taking all their prizes. Oh, but here's the problem - if you ram through the trainer, you get fewer points afterward. For example, the guy who spams Entei EX either gets and sets one up and rams through my water theme deck (good thing everything except the stage 2 mons have ≤ 90 HP >_>), or I set up first and ram through his deck. On a related note, the matches, when you get to later trainers, basically turn solely on the initial draw, thanks to how bad most of the theme decks are, particularly compared to the trainer's decks. I could really swear I get more tails and the opponent gets more heads during trainer matches than during PvP. We all know how frustratingly laughable and predictable the AI is, but what's even worse is that it seems like it's made up for by skewing the coin flip distribution. ![]() There are so many horrible things I experienced and I'm sure many people here already know about this, but they bear repeating because they were really that bad: I would never have done it, but I needed the cards (there are a LOT of things I need if I want to be truly competitive). and I kind of want to blow my brains out.
